STORIES OF ALDGATE

Stories of Aldgate; an outdoor spoken storytelling exhibition developed to capture and celebrate the unique histories and experiences of the Aldgate community with Aldgate Connect.

Located on Vine Street, the exhibition featured a collection of spoken stories that highlight the unique experiences and histories of Aldgate's residents, workers and visitors.

Working with Aldgate Connect, we brought together people who live work and play in the area. Each person went through a series of workshops to help them craft powerful narratives, producing a collection of compelling stories while also building a genuine sense of community and reflecting Aldgate’s commitment to celebrating its people. Each story was recorded and presented as part of an outdoor exhibition featuring striking portraits, with visitors able to listen by scanning a QR code. The storytellers were also filmed for Aldgate Connect and partner social channels to extend engagement beyond the physical space, culminating in a Heard Live launch event where three participants shared their stories with members and partners - an evening that was both memorable and met with overwhelmingly positive feedback.

The project was made possible thanks to Aldgate Connect with contributions from the forthcoming Migration museum and London Met University.
